I am a professional singer and actor.  I have performed on Broadway, National Tours, and spent the last 7 years as the Artistic Director of the Hippodrome Theatre in Gainesville, FL.  I teach through the University of Florida, Santa Fe College, The Center for Nonprofit Excellence, and Florida Professional Theatre Association.

I have taught voice lessons and coached acting for over 25 years and am a member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), preparing students for college and professional auditions in New York City and here in Florida. My students perform professionally all over the country, as well as on cruise ships and in bands.  I truly believe in helping my students find their own voice.

What I Do

VOICE LESSONS

I teach classic technique with applications and adjustments for contemporary musical theater, pop, and rock performance.

I believe a grounding in the basics (Breathing, Placement, Resonation) assures a healthy singing voice for life.  My extensive professional experience has helped me hone my own vocal technique and exposed me to a myriad of teaching techniques.  I use this knowledge to help me find the right technique and the right teaching style for you.  Singing is not a “One Size Fits All” activity.

I have taught Broadway actors and absolute beginners.  The one thing all of my students have in common is they want to learn to sing better.  And they do.

Let me help you find your voice.

AUDITION COACHING

As the Artistic Director of the Hippodrome Theatre for 7 years, a casting director at many summer stock companies, and countless years teaching at University Theatre and Musical Theatre programs, I know what makes a good audition and I can help you bring your best self and materials into the audition room.

We will take your song and/or monologue and layer and deepen your performance, tie your materials together in a package if need be, and smooth out any rough spots in the material.  I can also help you find the best material to fit your needs.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

  • "Before taking lessons with Stephanie, I was a one-dimensional singer choosing music that was comfortable and "in my range". After taking lessons with Stephanie, I expanded my vocal range to a level that I didn't think was possible for me and was able to book a second professional show because of it. "

    Joel O. - Florida

  • "Stephanie KNOWS the business from a real perspective. She stresses technique but knows what qualities an actor needs to not only get a callback, but book the job. She doesn't sugar coat anything. She'll give you honest feedback & tools to improve your work which are invaluable for an actor breaking into the professional world! She's a great audition coach & consultant!"

    Emily B. - NYC

  • "I had been out of the singing world for quite a while and when I started working with Stephanie, I immediately regained my confidence. I also felt like I was getting a perfect balance of technique training and a real-world sensibility that was going to help me up my game for auditions. She guided me with ease and constructive criticism."

    Brad C. - NYC

  • "Stephanie brought her enthusiasm, experience and real-world sensibility to her teaching and really used the time she had with us. She was interested in learning who we were as individuals; she invested in us, and I always felt genuinely supported. Her acting training stressed the passion and immediacy we always need to have to do our best work. It was such a valuable semester."
